In-depth buddhist studies
Our in-depth Buddhist studies courses are from FPMT Education's Basic Program, a five-year advanced immersion into key topics and texts of the traditional Tibetan Buddhist monastic education. Our first Basic Program course will be on the subject of Lo-rig, or Mind & Mental Factors, a traditional model of Buddhist psychology.
Understanding Mind in Tibetan Buddhism: Minds & Mental Factors
Private webcast at LYH with Don Handrick,
Wednesdays 6:45pm - 8:15pm, beginning January 10
As Lama Thubten Yeshe said, "If you don't know your own mind, your misconceptions will prevent you from seeing reality." This course is part of a study of mind and cognition in the FPMT Basic Program of Buddhist Studies that serves as an introduction to and investigation of the Buddhist understanding of the mind and its varied functions. In this part, Minds and Mental Factors, we will explore a Buddhist psychological model of the mind and its components, examining awareness from the perspective of the positive and negative states that condition our personality and direct the course of our spiritual development.
Note: Don will teach the course from his resident Dharma center in Santa Fe, NM, and will privately webcast the teachings to Lama Yeshe House in a special partnership for the course. The teachings will only be streamed at Lama Yeshe House.
