How to Meditate
Tuesdays at 7pm, beginning Nov. 29th

This Discovering Buddhism course covers the foundations of Buddhist meditation. It will look at the purpose of meditation, and how to structure a meditation session on your own.

We'll explore a variety of meditation techniques and ways to work with the common problems and obstacles we face when we try to meditate.

The course is meant to leave you with key tools, advice and enough familiarity to develop an effective meditation practice, so can develop a wiser and kinder relationship to your mind.

Open to all. With supplemental readings and instruction.

Led by FPMT Teacher Jane Sellers

Freedom from the Eight Mundane Concerns

This short course will use Lama Zopa Rinpoche's book, "How to Practice Dharma" to look into the teachings on "Eight Mundane Concerns" the deep motives that often drives us to seek pleasure, fame, praise and material gains, and avoid all of their opposites, like pain, criticism, and lack of wealth. Freeing our minds from this striving, as Lama Zopa points out, is when spiritual practice truly begins.

Becoming Tara Day Retreat

A one-day meditation retreat to more deeply connect with the enlightened energy of Lady Tara the Liberator, known as the "Mother of the Buddhas".  By meditating on Tara, we can begin to clear karmic obstacles to our spiritual path and activate our positive energies of wisdom and compassion.
