Kum Nye is an easy to learn and gentle system of physical exercises based on traditional Tibetan healing sciences. It is a great support for new & long-time meditators wanting to deepen and enrich their meditation practice, or those wanting more tools for relieving stress and difficult emotions, and more vitality and enjoyment in daily life.
These classes offer an introduction to the movements and foundations of Kum Nye. "Kum Nye" can be translated as "massaging (Nye) the subtle body (Ku)". We activate this "inner massage" through movement, breathing, awareness, and stillness - stimulating and expanding feeling and sensation to release and heal blockages, bringing about balance and relaxation, and awakening our senses.
After each practice we return to stillness in sitting, allowing the effects of the practice to expand through our being.
"Stimulating feelings and expanding them is the basic activity of Kum Nye. In this way, we learn to increase our enjoyment and appreciation of every aspect of living. Even a minute sensation can be increased, accumulated, and expanded until it flows throughout the body and expands even beyond us to the surrounding world." - Tarthang Tulku, author of Kum Nye Tibetan Yoga
Open to all. No experience necessary.
Instructor: Justin Jenkins, MA, LPCC
Certified Kum Nye Instructor, FPMT Registered Teacher, and Psychotherapist
